Revolutionizing Data Processing for a Swiss Real-time Location System Producer

In an increasingly data-driven world, efficient data processing is crucial for businesses to stay competitive. A Swiss Real-time Location System (CHIP) producer faced challenges with their on-premise big data system, leading them to explore innovative solutions. Here’s how we transformed their operations by implementing Sky Computing Architecture, enabling rapid data processing and reporting.

The Challenge: Inefficient On-Premise Processing

The CHIP producer had a legacy system that collected manufacturing data from around the globe through file uploads to a single on-premise location. This setup allowed them to gather up to 750,000 files per day; however, processing these files in batch took an arduous 2-3 days before they could report and derive meaningful insights. This delay hindered their ability to respond swiftly to operational needs and make informed decisions.

The Solution: Sky Computing Architecture

To address these inefficiencies, we implemented the Sky Computing Architecture, which began with integrating existing common services from both AWS and Azure. This multi-cloud approach allowed the CHIP producer to leverage the strengths of different cloud platforms while maintaining flexibility and reducing vendor lock-in.

Edge Nodes for Real-Time Processing

Next, we deployed Edge Nodes directly at the manufacturing sites. This strategic move enabled real-time data processing, focusing on collecting only valuable error and test result data. The processed information was then automatically synchronized with the Magna-db residing on the Sky Computing layer, ensuring that critical data was readily available.

Rapid Reporting and Enhanced Insights

As a result of this transformation, the customer experienced a remarkable improvement in their reporting capabilities. Within just one hour, they had valuable information ready for reporting in Data Insight or through other preferred data visualization tools. This swift access to data empowered them to make timely decisions and optimize their manufacturing processes.

Conclusion: Empowering Future Growth

The implementation of Sky Computing Architecture has revolutionized how the Swiss CHIP producer processes and utilizes data. With enhanced efficiency and speed, they are now better equipped to tackle future challenges and seize new opportunities in the ever-evolving landscape of real-time location systems.
